Scholarships in Canada

It is very important that you have a plan to meet your financial needs while studying in Canada before beginning your studies.

UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA


University of Manitoba is the largest university in the province and has more than twenty faculties for students to explore.
The costs to study in Manitoba vary from $11,000 to $20,000 (Canadian Dollars) for a year. Normally, Visa students are not allowed to work off campus in Canada.

Commonwealth Scholarships
Apply to Commonwealth Scholarships Agency in your home country. The following countries are involved with this program: Australia, India, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Government of Canada Awards
A cultural exchange program with these countries: France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Mexico. Students interested in this program must contact their own government.
Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)This awards is restricted to countries with which Canada has established a bi-lateral agreement.
Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship
For students in a graduate studies program leading to a higher degree in a development-related social science. Must be a national of a World Bank member country.
American citizens 
American citizens may be eligible for the G.I. Bill of Rights and/or the Higher Education Assistance Plan. Inquire approximately one year in advance to your home State’s Department of Education.

Scholarships Available to International Students
Humber awards degree scholarships automatically to graduating high school students based on academic achievement.
Full Tuition Renewable Scholarships

$5,000 CAD Renewable Scholarships
These scholarships are available for NEW international students only (two offered in September and one offered in January of each year). 
 $1,000 CAD Entrance Scholarships (non-renewable) : Twenty (20) one-time entrance scholarships
 Bachelor's Degree Scholarships : These academic scholarships are awarded at the time of offer based on school grade point average
Bachelor's Degree Scholarships for EAP Graduates
Graduates of Humber's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program with a GPA of 80% or higher in Level 8, who are applying for a Humber Degree, will be eligible to receive a one-time non-renewable scholarship of $1,500.


The University of Winnipeg is a large privately-funded institution holding a vast array of post-secondary and undergraduate programs. University offers multi-disciplinary courses in arts, business, Science and technology, education, economics and various other fields.

The University of Winnipeg has a long tradition of academic excellence. University continue to be in 4th place in Canada among primarily undergraduate universities for overall reputation, according to the 2012 Annual Maclean's Ranking of Canadian Universities - see UWinnipeg 4th in Canada for Reputation.  In the annual Globe and Mail Survey.
Students in university are provided with the opportunity to work on and off-campus, and to apply for a 3-year Post Graduate Work Permit. 

Scholarships & Bursaries
International students are eligible for some entrance scholarships based on excellent academic standing. After completing one year (two terms) at The University of Winnipeg, international students can apply for a wide range of undergraduate awards and scholarships for continuing students.
International students who have completed at least one term of study and who have demonstrated financial need may apply to the “International Student Bursary Program” for financial assistance.

Known as a centre of excellence for teaching, applied research and learning, Vancouver Island University (VIU) is producing quality graduates that are in demand by employers across the country and around the world.
While studying at Vancouver Island University, international students are eligible to work off-campus for up to 20 hours a week while studying.  These students are also eligible to work full-time during scheduled breaks including the 4 month summer vacation and 3 week winter vacation.
After graduation from an academic program that is 8 months or longer, international students are allowed to work in Canada for up to 3 years.

Vancouver Island University offers five (5) partial scholarships worth $5,000 & many others scholarships for interntional students. New student scholarships will be selected from students who meet the application deadlines for their respective programs.

NIAGARA COLLEGE TOP INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AWARDS
Every year Niagara College awards the top 5% of our international students with an honour of being one of the top international students in the college and a $500 Cdn. award each.
Winners of the Top International Student Award will be recognized and presented with their money at the annual International Student Award Ceremony in February. This will include winners from the previous Fall, Winter and Summer terms.
THE INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES SCHOLARSHIP (IEOS)
This scholarship is for students completing part of their academic program abroad. It will provides eligible students with financial support for an eligible period of academic study, work term or coop placement outside of Canada.

Fairleigh Dickinson University
